Touch and Time
Ithaca Gallery Night debuts September 4th from 5:00-8:00 pm.
“Touch and Time” is an exhibition by local artists and educators Jill Lavetsky and Jessica Warner. The show places Jessica’s dynamic oil paintings alongside Jill’s drawings, collages, and fabric pieces.
Jill’s work explores themes of motherhood, relationships and the body. Tangled figures are described through the language of gesture and the shape their bodies take as one unit.
Jessica makes paintings that play in the spaces between. They hold together opposing impulses of abstraction and figuration; observation and improvisation, connection and disconnection.
The bodies and objects in Jessica and Jill’s work intertwine, blur and dissolve. Their work is rooted in the gestural and intuitive mark and the visceral nature of touch and expression.
