Music Classes
Ithaca Children & Youth Chorus
The Ithaca Children & Youth Chorus (ICYC) strives to instill a life-long love of music as the area’s only exclusive children’s choral program. ICYC provides an inclusive and complete choral experience for young singers through culturally diverse repertoire from varied traditions.

Prelude

Prelude is the beginning ICYC ensemble, for singers in grades K-2nd, and is centered on healthy singing and celebrating the joy of music.

Intermezzo
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm
In Intermezzo, singers in grades 3rd-5th build upon basic music skills with an emphasis on healthy singing, expression, rehearsal and performance technique, and movement, in a fun supportive environment.

Chorale
Wednesdays 5:00-6:15pm
Chorale offers more advanced instruction in choral singing for youth in grades 6th-12th. In addition to a greater focus on musical literacy the repertoire in this ensemble expands to include additional musical styles, and more complex rhythms and harmonies, while centering the joy and community that comes from being a part of a choral ensemble.

SingSong Music Class for Kids

SingSong Music Class is a fun-filled multicultural class for little ones and parents/caregivers to enjoy music in a circle setting. There will be plenty of singing, moving our bodies, learning rhythms, clapping our hands, stomping our feet, dancing, laughing, loving and having so much fun together!

Musical Improvisation with Hank Roberts

Audio Production with Ableton

Bring your flute and friends to a warm, caring environment where “playing well with others” is the goal. Learn the basic skills of chamber music performance and study the vast repertoire for flute choir. You’ll be glad you did!

Join a welcoming and supportive flute ensemble designed for adult musicians who enjoy collaborative music-making. This group focuses on developing ensemble skills, refining technique, and exploring the rich and diverse repertoire written for flute choir. Whether you are returning to your instrument or looking to grow as an ensemble player, you will find a rewarding and engaging musical experience. Middle School Concert Band

This ensemble aims to develop instrument proficiency, music reading, and ensemble skills and allows band students to perform with their peers. Grades 5-8.

Beginner-Intermediate Tap

This class is for students who are between the beginner and intermediate level. Students will work on technique, steps, combos, and choreography.
Ballet for Adults

Art Class for Kids: Mix, Make, Imagine!
Tuesdays 4:00-5:30pm • 9/15-10/20
This art class for kids ages 5-10 is designed to encourage problem-solving, inspire creative thinking, and provide children with a joyful space to explore and enjoy art. Through observing, creating, and reflecting on artworks, students will develop visual literacy and a deeper understanding of artistic expression.
Watercolor Landscapes for Kids

Discover the magic of watercolor painting in this fun and engaging six week class for young artists. Through hands on projects, children will experiment with color mixing, brushwork, texture, and composition while developing confidence in their artistic abilities.

Intermediate Oil Painting – Breaking the Rules

This class requires some previous experience with oil painting. Explore contemporary approaches to painting with an emphasis on expanded approach to painting what you see through close observation along with abstraction. Students will develop skills and personal voice while challenging habits and assumptions.

Each session features guided exercises, demonstrations, and constructive feedback to help you develop your skills and discover your own artistic voice.

Basic Drawing
Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm, 9/23-11/11 • Instructed by Jessica Warner
This is an introductory level drawing class with an emphasis on learning how to see with an artist’s eye. Working from direct observation, students will learn sighting and measuring techniques, working with light and shadow, seeing negative space, drawing texture and pattern and creating a sense of space using perspective and other devices. Class time will be a combination of discussion, critique and working from still life displays. Home assignments will be given. No prior experience is needed.
Open Art Studio for Kids

Open Art Studio for Kids is a child-led creative experience where imagination takes center stage. Rather than focusing on specific techniques, performance, or predetermined projects, this six-week session celebrates curiosity, creative expression, and the joy of making art. Each child will have the freedom and space to discover, invent, and develop confidence in their unique creative voice while engaging in meaningful artistic play.

Open Sketch – Figure Drawing from Model
2nd & 4th Fridays 6:00-8:30pm
If you are interested in drawing from the nude model, come join our non-instructed, open sketch sessions! Sessions are generally held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.
RainbowBrain: Kids Creativity Club!
Saturdays,10:00-11:30am • 10/3-11/7 • In collaboration with Jessica Peery
Children will learn how to express themselves creatively while exploring important skills like cooperation, emotional awareness, and artistic experimentation. They’ll leave each week with a sense of pride in their unique creations and a growing confidence in their creative voice.
Fearless Painting

The Teen Acting Project is an ongoing class that provides enthusiastic young thespians the opportunity to learn professional acting techniques that are slightly modified for this special group of young people. This is a monthly class held the 2nd Saturday of each month from April through October.

Adult Acting Intensive and Theatre Games is a course that offers the adult actor a professional Acting Technique based on the Holistic Human as a template. This class is offered the 2nd Saturday of each month from April through October.
