Music and The Body Connection: For Musicians Of Any Skill Level Of Any Instrument
In this workshop, you’ll discover how, through reconnecting with our body, we can experience new and profound ways of connecting to music and music performance. Through group exercises that are as silly as they are revelatory, you’ll learn how to overcome over-intellectualizing and your inner critic and naturally connect to music-making in a deep and meaningful way.

Notes for attendees:
Attendees should bring their own instruments and wear clothes to move freely in.
For drummers, percussion instruments will be provided as options.
Pianists/keyboard players, a grand piano or keyboard will be provided
Amps and microphones will be provided for instruments that need it.
Electronic guitarists/bassists, please bring your own connecting cables.

INSTRUCTOR
Tyler Hathaway (he/him) is a music performance teacher and drummer based in Ithaca, NY. Alongside his vocation in the world of music, Tyler is enrolled in a Master’s program at Goddard College toward becoming a mental health counselor with a focus on expressive arts therapies.
Tyler’s instruction is informed by his training in Inside Voice techniques by Jonathan Stancato in NYC, acting training at the Actor’s Workshop of Ithaca, a prior career as a collaborator and storyteller working in the film industry in Chicago and NYC, and his formal education and gigging experience as a drummer.
