May, 2024 – Lower Gallery

Francisco Búrquez, a.k.a. Burkeaux, is a Mexican American artist born in Chula Vista, California. Now calling Canandaigua, NY his home, Burkeaux will be exhibiting his work in the lower gallery at CSMA.  To learn more about the artist, visit: https://www.burkeaux.com/.

“Qui Sommes Nous?”, translated, “Who Are We?” in French, is the question that sits at the epitome of all human mysteries. Where do we come from? What is our purpose? For millennia, religion, philosophy and science have ventured to answer this enigma without success. This compilation of art is an attempt to process this riddle using the manipulation of design, sound, language, photography, and any other media that serve in this exploration.

Visit the show at CSMA, 330 East State Street, about a block away from the Commons, May 3 – May 31.  Gallery Night, debuts May 3 from 5:00-8:00 pm, with an artist talk starting at 6:30 pm.
