Nick Scollard (they/he) is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and community organizer whose creative foundations are rooted in DIY spaces and accessibility. Nick is an Ithaca transplant, having grown up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. They later moved to Kalamazoo to attend school and became immersed in the underground music scenes of the Midwest. This is where
Nick found a passion for creating spaces for people of all abilities to be able to engage in music and art.
After moving to Ithaca in 2017, Nick quickly became a regular in the Ithaca music scene as a
patron and a performer, playing primarily drum kit with a handful of different groups throughout the years. Currently, Nick performs on the drum kit with their punk band Joyous Shrub as well as local synth punk group The FMs. Nick has also performed as a percussionist with Silver Rein and has sat in on the kit with various other acts around town. Nick co-manages a local DIY promotion group called Practice At! that hosts shows at various venues around town (including CSMA!) bringing through regional and national touring acts as well as giving platforms to local artists to showcase their music.
Beyond music, Nick is a printmaker and mixed media visual artist. They are part of a local artist collective called Ithaca House made up of several multidisciplinary artists, musicians, and poets who, thanks to Community Arts Partnership grant funding, host workshops that explore the intersections of words, materials, and sounds. Nick was also an artist-in-residence at the Ithaca Print Commons in February of 2024 where they had the opportunity to host workshops on risograph printing and other creative processes.
Nick has extensive experience working with people of all ages and abilities. Nick prides
themselves in being able to meet their students where they’re at and create lessons that are
focused around the goals their students would like to achieve in their music-making journeys!
