Lydia Goedert

Faculty, Music, Piano

Lydia Goedert is a recent graduate of Stanford University where she studied chemistry and music composition. She is a composer, pianist, and violist. Her compositions combine elements of Impressionism, Contemporary Classical, and Jazz. She draws on themes involving her personal experiences, nature, and mathematics. She further engages in multimedia processes, connecting visual arts and music via graphical scores.

At the same time, piano and viola performance has constituted a large part of her musical upbringing. She values dedicated practice of both determinate and indeterminate idioms, as she is rooted in both Classical and Contemporary Jazz styles.

She has taught music lessons for all ages. She enjoys teaching and wants to be a chemistry professor later in life. She actively centers students’ goals in her teaching practices.
