Ithaca Children &
Youth Chorus

CSMA offers an exciting opportunity for young singers to find and develop their musical voice as part of a renowned Ithaca institution...

The ICYC, under the artistic direction of composer Katie Ballantyne, provides weekly instruction in a supportive environment, allowing each student to grow and practice their musical skills through a culturally diverse repertoire – traditional to contemporary. Students concentrate on building their music literacy, develop sight-reading, vocal technique, and musical notation skills while gaining self-confidence. Each year, participants share their love of music through several community concerts.

Divided into four different groups by age, the chorus is active September through May and students are welcome to join throughout the season.

Each year, participants share their love of music through several community concerts.

Older students get an opportunity to co-write a new piece of choral music & bring it to life. They experience the complete process… from creation to performance. Everyone contributes.

Students are invited to all chorus retreats twice a year where they have the opportunity to learn from each other.

Our auditions are non-competitive, they simply allow the faculty to personally meet each student and understand their skills.
