Music Classes
The Ithaca Children & Youth Chorus (ICYC) strives to instill a life-long love of music as the area’s only exclusive children’s choral program. ICYC provides an inclusive and complete choral experience for young singers through culturally diverse repertoire from varied traditions.

Prelude
Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm
Prelude is the beginning ICYC ensemble, for singers in grades K-2nd, and is centered on healthy singing and celebrating the joy of music.

Intermezzo
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm
In Intermezzo, singers in grades 3rd-5th build upon basic music skills with an emphasis on healthy singing, expression, rehearsal and performance technique, and movement, in a fun supportive environment.

Chorale
Wednesdays 5:00-6:15pm
Chorale offers more advanced instruction in choral singing for youth in grades 6th-12th. In addition to a greater focus on musical literacy the repertoire in this ensemble expands to include additional musical styles, and more complex rhythms and harmonies, while centering the joy and community that comes from being a part of a choral ensemble.

Reading Music: Notes & Beyond
Saturdays 2:00-3:00pm • Taught by Josh Oxford
Learn basic concepts in reading music, making scales, making chords, and how chords relate to one another. This class is ideal for beginning musicians who wish to know more about what it is they’re playing, as well as for listeners who wish to expand their musical perception.

Join us for continued familiarization with tap vocabulary from Vaudeville to Broadway styles! For students looking for a challenge in a supportive setting.
Beginner Tap

An introduction to basic tap for the complete beginner, with technique and vocabulary as our focus! Choreography will also be introduced.

Practice different printmaking techniques including linocut, screen printing, LEGO printing, and cyanotype in this introductory printmaking class!
Figure Drawing 2

Students in this class will use a variety of art materials, techniques, and artistic approaches to draw from a live model. Previous drawing experience is needed for this course.
Illustrating Animals in Watercolor

In this weekly class, students will learn drawing, painting and illustration techniques while depicting animals.
Creativity Jump Start

Belly Dancing

This mixed-level class explores the various styling, movements, and music of belly dance as it is danced in Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece and other countries of the Middle East and North Africa. Session 2 runs 10/26-12/14 (no class 11/2 or 11/30).

Capoeira Angola Negaça

An Afro-Brazilian martial art and dance that focuses on being mindful with strategy and position above speed and force, wisdom and playfulness over violence.

Adult Acting Intensive & Theatre Games

Adult Acting Intensive and Theatre Games is a new course taught by Lynn Winters that offers the adult actor a professional Acting Technique based on the Holistic Human as a template. Session 1 runs 9/24-10/29 and Session 2 runs 11/12-12/10.
