The Ithaca Children & Youth Chorus (ICYC) strives to instill a life-long love of music as the area’s only exclusive children’s choral program. ICYC provides an inclusive and complete choral experience for young singers through culturally diverse repertoire from varied traditions.

Prelude

Prelude is the beginning ICYC ensemble, for singers in grades K-2nd, and is centered on healthy singing and celebrating the joy of music.

In Intermezzo, singers in grades 3rd-5th build upon basic music skills with an emphasis on healthy singing, expression, rehearsal and performance technique, and movement, in a fun supportive environment.

Chorale
Wednesdays 5:00-6:15pm
Chorale offers more advanced instruction in choral singing for youth in grades 6th-12th. In addition to a greater focus on musical literacy the repertoire in this ensemble expands to include additional musical styles, and more complex rhythms and harmonies, while centering the joy and community that comes from being a part of a choral ensemble.

Learn basic concepts in reading music, making scales, making chords, and how chords relate to one another. This class is ideal for beginning musicians who wish to know more about what it is they’re playing, as well as for listeners who wish to expand their musical perception.
