Lauren Extrom

Faculty, Music, Voice

Lauren Alyssa Extrom (she/her/hers) is a professional vocalist, session singer, producer, songwriter, keyboardist, music director, teaching artist, and RYT 200 certified trauma-informed yoga teacher. Lauren is very passionate about the overlap between vocal/human anatomy, music education, sound healing, and yoga, and strives to include elements of all of these disciplines in her teaching. She is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment to all who join her studio and workshops, by including things such as diverse music repertoire (including music in different languages…fun fact, Lauren is fluent in Spanish), neurodivergent-aware practice routines and warm-up rituals, and a feelings wheel that can be used for nervous system regulation, as well as channeling different feelings as a character in a musical theatre number.

Her education in western classical music paired with her life experiences in the contemporary music industry have prepared her to create a lesson environment that is well-rounded in its awareness and musical offerings. Lauren is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences with degrees in Music and American Studies, with concentrations in voice and musicology. She is also a graduate of New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development with a Masters in Performing Arts Administration, with a concentration in arts education. Her recent vocal training credits include the New York VocaLab Advanced Vocal Technique Workshop in December 2023 with Elle Holiday, a renowned voice specializing pathologist and singing teacher from Australia.
