Beatrice B. Olesko is an Associate Professor of Music Education at Ithaca College where she teaches classes related to elementary general and vocal music. Prior to coming to IC, Beatrice taught K-4 general music and elementary choir for United Local Schools in Haverton, Ohio for ten years. Much of Beatrice’s research examines how democratic practices in general music lead to more equitable, accessible, and inclusive school music experiences. She also publishes and presents on topics related to academic parenting/motherhood, elementary music pedagogy, and creative music making with children. In addition to her academic course load and research, Beatrice teaches music to children in the community through her involvement with local public schools and childcare centers, and conducts the Intermezzo ensemble for the Ithaca Children & and Youth Chorus.
