Gravitating to the upright bass at the age of ten, Joey Arcuri hasn’t put it down since. Youth orchestras, jazz bands, and rock groups launched him through early schooling. Continuing into college, Joey studied with Tim Cobb at SUNY Purchase and Dr. Nicholas Walker at Ithaca College. Finishing a bachelor of music degree in classical bass performance in 2009, this young man was ready to hit the scene.
Joey Arcuri is currently the upright bassist of Driftwood, a song driven folk rock quintet based out of Binghamton, NY. A national touring act, Driftwood averages 150 shows per year and has shared the stage with Sammy Kershaw, Rusted Root, Old Crow Medicine Show, Donna The Buffalo, and The Wood Brothers. Lighting up the stage with Driftwood and other groups, Joey Arcuri remains a pivotal force in the central New York music community.
Joey enjoys teaching both uprigtht bass and cello to beginning, intermediate, and advanced students of all ages.
