This class is for students at any level- from beginners interested in becoming familiar with oil paint and painting from observation to more advanced students looking for guidance and feedback. Meeting at Cass Park, we will work outdoors in the natural world, exploring painting from observation in this beautiful place. Technical aspects of painting in oil and working outdoors will be addressed. We will explore color, composition, scale, light and shadow, texture, and oil paint’s versatility and expressive potential. Through the practice of direct observation, creative response and interpretation will be explored and encouraged. We will look at and learn from each other’s work as well as the work of other artists.
