In this class, children will explore dance concepts such as place, size, level, energy, direction, focus, rhythm, speed, balance and pathway etc. in order to discover the broad range of movement possibilities with their bodies. They will begin to use the raw elements of dance to create for themselves. The process provides the opportunity for growth in self-awareness, confidence of expression, and relating to others, especially when working together on a problem.
The format includes warm-up, exploring the weekly concept, developing basic locomotor and non-locomotor skills, combining movements, time each week to do improvisation or mini choreography, and sharing and showing dances. Lots of movement fun. The benefits carry over into all of life.
Class Requirements: Students will need space to dance, internet access, webcam and microphone, Zoom capability, movement clothes, and access to paper and drawing materials.
