This outdoor course emphasizes drawing as a means by which people learn to see, understand, imagine, and depict form and space. We will explore the various functions and expressive potential of lines. Principles covered will include perception, proportion and measurement, perspective, relating complex objects to simple geometric forms, and more. Class time will consist of discussion and critique, but the primary focus will be on using our time to draw. This class will meet each week at Cass Park, a beautiful location overlooking the water and conveniently located in downtown Ithaca.
No prior experience is necessary. Materials list available through the office.
